Phone Headset Allows For Hands-Free Telephone Use

Talking on the telephone and needing to take notes of important business information os simply write down a telephone number can be cumbersome with the design of many of today's telephone receivers. The need to hold it to one ear with one hand and trying to write with the other disappears with the use of a phone headset, making it more likely users will be able to read what they wrote down. In fact, in some instances, it may be almost impossible to hold the phone to the ear using a shoulder, not to mention painful during a long conversation, and there is little more distracting to a caller than the sound of the telephone receiver bouncing on the floor when dropped.

Gone are the designs that made it more comfortable to hold a receiver to the ear while talking, freeing the hands to do other things while on the telephone. Especially many of today's more modern cordless phones being of a sleek design with which the speaker barely reaches the mouth. With a phone headset, the designs vary in that some have a separate earphone and mouthpiece into which the user speaks while listening on a speaker built into a headband.

There is also a phone headset design that incorporates the speaker and microphone into one convenient appliance that fits in or around the user's ear, making it more convenient to use as well as having noise reduction to limit outside interference. Regardless of the type or style being used, there is typically a phone headset that will fit.

Not All Phones Have Appropriate Connection Points

In order to use a phone headset, the telephone must be built to accept a jack for the earphone and microphone. Although wireless technology has help cut the cord for a phone headset, the telephone must also be equipped to handle the technology. Many of the cheaper home telephones do not have these connections available, but once the price hits the mid-range, the technology is usually available.

In some areas the use of a cell phone while driving has been made illegal unless it is connected through a cell phone headset to make hands-free use possible. Even still, cell phone use while driving is discouraged as the topic of conversation can be a distraction. When at home or in the office using a phone headset can help users stay in contact with the world immediately around them while comfortably participating in a telephone conversation.
